My Personal Learning Newtwork

Reflect on how your personal learning network has changed and grown during the course of this workshop. Discuss your plans for how you plan to continue to grow your learning network and how you hope to contribute to the professional learning of your administrative colleagues.

During the course of this workshop, my personal learning network has taken a new turn. I have experimented with Twitter, Blogging, and Podcasting. I have been using Twitter for a long time to follow educators to learn and collaborate with them. I have used a blog but not for collaboration. I used my blog to post upcoming events for students and parents.Through this course, I have learned new ways to use my blog to benefit not only me, but my colleagues, students and their parents. Before this course I had not created a podcast before. I have learned valuable ways to use podcasts in my classroom. I could record lessons or reviews and post them for students to listen to or watch at their convenience. I could also provide some how-to podcasts for teachers on how to use various technology tools.

After reading the Action Steps for Superintendents and District Leadership Teams, I plan to continue to grow my learning network by committing to attend a conference focused on technology use. I also plan to contribute to the professional learning of my colleagues by working as a leadership team to identify and implement technology-based approaches to communicating, interacting and engaging with students, parents and the community. I would also become a technology coach to improve classroom  technology use among teachers at my school.

Initial Thoughts

What are your initial thoughts about the type of blog you would want to maintain?

I would want to maintain a blog to use for reflection of my classroom practices and ideas. I would also like to use the blog to interact with other educators and get their viewpoints on what's going on in my classroom and education. I would also like to use my blog to chronicle my experiences as an educator.
